Twitter has acquired news aggregator and summary service Brief, with the latest bulletin in the startup’s iOS app scheduled for July 31.
Twitterは少し前にサブスクリプションタイプのニュース配信サービスである「Scroll」を買収しています。広告のないことが特徴で、Twitterがニュース配信をするとの観測もありました。
今度はニュースをアグリゲートし、要約する「Brief」を買収ということで、Twitterが読みやすいニュースの配信を手がけようとしていることはよく伝わってきます。
「Brief」のアプリは2021年7月31日をもって配信が停止されるとのことです。
Founded and launched by former Google engineers in 2020, Brief is a subscription-based news summary app that aimed to cut down on information overload and fight algorithms that prioritized engagement over accuracy.
「Brief」は2020年に元Googleのエンジニアが立ち上げし、情報過多と、正しさよりもエンゲージメントを優先するアルゴリズムと戦うことを目的とした、サブスク型のニュース要約アプリだそうです。
Twitterでもサブスクリプションの一つとして導入されるのでしょうか。
「Brief」からも「Brief is joining Twitter!」として発表されていました。
