YouTube、iOSアプリのピクチャー・イン・ピクチャー機能を廃止という記事を書いた後に、YouTubeがiOS 15以降のデバイスでピクチャー・イン・ピクチャー（PiP）を提供すると発表したのですが、これは間違いだったようです。
Engadgetが、YouTube says picture-in-picture will hit all iOS 15 devices in the coming days (updated)として伝えていました。
YouTube has told users PiP should be available “in a matter of days” across all devices running iOS 15 or later.
YouTubeもTwitterアカウントで認めるツイートをしていたのですが（既に削除済み）、どうやらYouTube TVで利用できるPiPと勘違いしてしまったということのようです。
Just to clarify – what's currently being rolled out is the YouTube TV picture-in-picture for iOS 15+ devices. If you're referring to the one for the YouTube app, it's only available to Premium members on Android mobile phones. https://t.co/wB9vUWtm3U

YouTubeアプリの場合は、Android版のプレミアムメンバーのみがPiPを利用することができます。
