MacUserで、全く新しいタイプのファイルブラウザー「Liquifile」が紹介されていました。恐らく「liquid = 液体」というのが語源になっているのかな、と思います。
実際の画面を見ても直感的に理解するのはなかなか難しそうではあります。こんなインターフェースは見たことがない、という感じです。しかもこれがFinderの代わりですからね。
「Liquifile」のウェブサイトを見ると‥‥

と説明されています。つまり、ビジュアルで直感的に考える人向けにデザインされているようです。
