Apple Inc. expects to delay its next major iPad software update by about a month, taking the unusual step of not releasing it at the same time as the new iPhone software, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
通常、iPhone向けのiOSとiPadOSは同じタイミングでリリースされるものなのですが「iPadOS 16」は「iOS 16」より1ヶ月程度の遅れをもってリリースされる可能性が出てきたようです。
「iOS 16」は2022年9月にリリースですが「iPadOS 16」は10月にリリースされるとBloombergは伝えています。
リリースが遅れる要因はiPadのマルチタスク機能のオーバーホールにあり、新機能の「Stage Manager」が含まれます。
ベータテストでは、バグや分かりにくいインターフェース、ほとんどのiPadとの互換性がないことなどから、一部の開発者やユーザーから批判を浴びていたとBloomberg。
「iPadOS 16」のリリースが遅れることで、M2搭載のiPad Proや、USB-C搭載のエントリーiPadの発売タイミングと近くなるようです。
