Netflixがゲーム配信サービス「Netflix Games」をリリースしました。先行しているAndroid版ではNetflixアプリ内から起動できるようですが、iOS版ゲームはApp Storeで配信されるようです。
AppleInsiderが、Netflix to release games via App Store instead of through streaming appとして伝えています。
Netflix’s plan to release games on iOS will see the titles appearing in the App Store, a report claims, rather than being made available via the video streaming service’s app, as will be offered on Android.
Bloombergの最新ニュースレター「Power On」の中でMark Gurman氏が伝えたもので、NetflixのiOS版ゲームはApp Storeで配信することになるだろう、と。
これはApp Storeの規約によるもので、アプリがサードパーティのアプリストアになることが禁止されています。
Android版も現在はこのような仕組みになっていますが、将来的にはNetflixのメインアプリでゲームのダウンロードが可能になると考えられているということです。
これからゲームが増えていくことを考えると、Netflix内でアプリをダウンロードできた方が「Netflix Games」としてのまとまりはでますが。恐らくそうはならないのでしょうねぇ。
